A Look Back...
So before I dive into our new life in Germany [plenty of posts on that ahead!] I wanted to give you a little glimpse into the life we just left. When Baby Asher was 4 months old, we had the always (not an exaggeration!) fantastic Tracy Routh Photography come to our little Kansas home to capture some precious moments before the moving boxes took over.
It felt really important for us to document our first home -- first home as a couple, as a family of 3 (+2 cats) before we took off for Germany. The hubs and I bought this house -- probably too young --probably a little too naive, but we made it work and really built it into something we loved. We wanted Asher to have some photo context to refer back to later in life.
Between all of Jason's work travel & some super-high-powered-nesting, while pregnant, I poured my time, love & energy into Asher's nursery. It was SO much fun. I knew what I wanted for his room before I even knew if he was a he. I wanted it to be a bit less traditional, a lot a bit cozy and a place that I felt happy in. .Because...lets be honest, it will be me -- not he -- that remembers his first room. We officially decided to move to Germany right after Asher was born. Jason had been working overseas 2 weeks out of every month, which was hard on both of us -- but would only become more difficult now that we had a sweet little baby to care for. We realized that the opportunity to live in Europe was likely going to be a 'once in a lifetime' thing for us. And that life was not likely to ever get easier, so why not now? SO...we agreed to 2 years in Germany!
As you've probably guessed, I'm a big fan of a DIY project :) The wall mural was painted by yours truly and I also painted the artwork above the crib and parts of each chest of drawers -- just to make sure they were a perfect match. Luckily we were able to travel with basically all of Asher's room furniture and decor. So it made furnishing his room in Germany a piece of cake! Though...I totally miss that constellation wall...
These pics were taken about 5 months ago now, so it's been super sentimental to look back on them. Our little man is not so little anymore... but still keeps us laughing with faces like these.
