Here comes the Blog (and the Bride!).
The reason we took another cross-atlantic trip so soon after our last one was not just to celebrate Asher's 1st Birthday (check out my last post for those fun deets!), but to celebrate another Murray Wedding! The hubs is one of 3 Murray Men (4 if you include the man, the myth, the legend: Pops Murr). Jason is the middle brother and his younger brother, Jake, put a ring on it. His wife (how fun does that sound, Bizi?!), Bizi, and I have become great friends over the last few years. She is a super-fun Aunt to Baby A and was so supportive when we announced we were moving overseas. I am lucky (beyond lucky!) to have married into a great family and now have not 1 but 2 fab SILs!!
Keep in mind, I am in no way, shape or form a pro-photog, but I've been having a lot of fun playing with settings and documenting our fam trips and activities...So I totally paparazzi'ed the wedding party all weekend long, taking about a million pics along the way. I'm sharing a few favs from my personal photo stash of the wedding weekend and hope the happy couple has fun reliving through this little photo story!
To get the festivities started, the mother of the bride hosted a beautiful bridal luncheon at Hallbrook Country Club in Leawood, KS.
(Raise your hand if you married a Murray! Spoiler alert: all these babes did!)
Their wedding weekend was a true family affair. My sister-in-law and I were bridesmaids, Jason and his older brother, Travis, were co-best men and wedding singers, the brother of the bride and his girlfriend (talented couple!) played music at the reception and Asher and his cousin Callan were the cutest little ring bearers and got pulled down the aisle in a little white wagon! It was the WORLD'S CUTEST MOMENT. So that being said, there was a lot to rehearse :) Next on the schedule (pronounced like the Brits: SHHedule), was the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner.
Asher was pretty excited about making his little white wagon debut.
The parents of the groom, AKA the my Murray in-laws, hosted the rehearsal dinner at Summit Grill in Waldo. It was a great space for hosting a private event and the food was delish! I helped a bit with table decor by crafting up place cards & table numbers. Speaking of which...I have a bit of the post-birthday / post wedding blues since I'm now without a big event to craft for...anyone need anything???!! (#notkidding).
Jason and I haven't found -- well actually haven't really tried very hard to find -- babysitters in Germany yet. We plan to...we just haven't really had to much of a need yet. That being said, we TOTALLY took advantage of having a bajillion Asher babysitters while we were in KC. We got quite a few date nights & it was a blast. Definitely helped us remember why we need to focus on building a babysitter relationship here in Germany.
The girls woke up bright and early (as is always the case on wedding day) for glam time. Jake & Bizi held their reception at The Grand Hall in downtown KC. It's located in the old Power & Light Building and actually...Bizi found it by accident while looking at a nearby space. The Hall was still under construction when she toured it, but WOWZA it was a good find! The decor is a beautiful, art-deco style and they had a spacious bridal room upstairs that we were all able to get ready (and drink mimosas) in.
The light was dreamy and, again, can't wait to see the finished pro pix, because the sneak peeks I saw from George Mullinix Photography were to.die.for.amazing.
Jake sent Bizi a note and a gooorrrgeous set of earrings & bracelet as a wedding gift. She opened the letter and was instantly brought to tears. Jake & Bizi really are a great match for each other, they're both fun-loving & easy going, but this moment made it oh-so-clear just how much they love each other.
And like...seriously, how amazing does she look...?(Collarbones for dayyyzz). Then it was time for her to step into the prettiest gown on the face of the planet. I know thats a pretty extreme hyperbolic statement...BUT. It's also the truth. Sooooo, yep, I'm green with wedding dress envy over here...Her gown along with the bridesmaid dresses and tuxes were all purchased from Bridal Extraordinaire (where the beautiful bride works!).
They used Kindra, the owner of Simple Elegance, for Wedding Planning. She was organized, so friendly and helpful throughout the weekend. I can speak for all of us when we say, she would be a dream to work with if you're planning a KC wedding! Since we got ready at the reception space, I was able to sneak a few pics of decor before the night began. So pretty!
Before the ceremony we snuck away and took some family photos. I love getting photos of us all dressed up. These are some framers...for sure! I mean, this baby in his little monkey suit, just grips at my heart.
And then...when you get 2 little men in monkey suits...your heart just totally self-combusts. (But also so does your brain a little while trying to get them to stay in the same spot, look in the same direction & smile.)
So, a bit later, the bride & groom said I DO - and we said LET'S PARTY!
It was an awesome weekend and a great way to end our trip back to KC. Until next time, Newlyweds!
PS I am CRAZY excited about the next stop on our EuroBucketList...We're headed to London tomorrow!! So practice your best British accent, because you know the next post will be written in mine!
ever yours,
lindsey
