Pretty Little Italy.
Gahhhh this was a trip I had been looking forward to before we even moved to Europe and now I'm sooooo sad its over! Serious post-vacay-blues happening over here. I even had this thought the other day - and honestly, I felt kind of lame that I had it- but I wonder if it rings true for others ... So, I love traveling and these crazy cool experiences I am getting out of this #expatlife, BUT I'm slightly addicted to the build-up, the anticipation, the countdown to the trip... From pinteresting outfit inspiration, to researching restaurants, and googling images of the location, to mad-texting everyone on the trip...the whole shebang. "Hi, my name is Lindsey, 🙋🏻 and I ALMOST love the anticipation of a trip as much as I love the trip itself." There. I said it. 😬 Please tell me I am not the only one.
So what was this dream trip? Well, two sets of my aunts & uncles (my mom's brother + wife, and her sister + husband) celebrated their 30th wedding anniversaries this year! Yay!! And they had planned their own Italian adventure with 2 of my cousins & we tagged along to a portion of it! My mom and her boyfriend also made the Eurotrip, bringing our giant group total to 10.5 (though with all of the stuff I have to pack for Asher he should actually count as 2 people instead of a 1/2 a person...). I mean, HOW COOL? I've never taken a big family trip like this before & while there is lots [understatement] of coordination involved when trying to get all 10.5 people to arrive at the same place at the same time, it was a fantastic experience. Looking back at all the pictures reminds me of how lucky I am to have such a close-knit family. We love each other. Accept each other. Can call each other out. Celebrate what makes us different, but also totally the same. [And also annoy the crap out of each other, but that's, like, part of the definition of family, right?] I wish more of us could have been there. We would have taken over the island.
So we met the Anniversary celebration crew on the beautiful island of Capri, Italy. It was just a beyond gorgeous setting for a mini-family reunion. We opted to stay at an Airbnb in the marina area which worked out perfectly for us, babyfied and all, because we had plenty of space and the convenience of being close to the ferries. The Anniversary crew stayed higher up the island in Anacapri, home to the world's most beautiful ocean view.
We ate, we shopped, we ate, we shopped, we boated, we swam, some of us got sea sick, most of us got a hangover, we laughed, I might have cried once and we made ALL of these insanely incredible memories. I'll let the photos [mostly] speak for themselves [but you know I like to talk, so I'll jump back in here & there 😜].
And now for the Anniversary Duos ...
We took in the sunset & stayed for a fireworks show before heading to bed.
The next day we ferried to Positano. PS. I LOVE YOU POSITANO. Remember our recent trip to Lago di Como, Italy? I loved that too. But Positano just felt cool. It felt like THE place to be. Delicious food, awesome shopping & all the colorful buildings & beautiful cliffs you see in photos all over instagram.
We had a big ol' Italian lunch at Hotel Covo dei Saraceni that literally made us feel like we were at someone's posh Italian villa. The food was delicous. The view was gorgeous & the restaurant was too.
So we took about 1 million photos while there...
Here's the whole crew. Eeeeee!
the cutie mommies & daughties :
And now for some Positano...
... in all it's positively gorgeous glory.
Remember that post where I talked about how we're "working on it" ... ?
Well we still are.
But making some good progress!!
But...how cute are they ... ? 👇
and took in the sights.
Some of us panicked in a grotto, some of us got stung by jellyfish
but we all happily sipped bubbly & made b.e.a.u.t.i.f.u.l. memories ...
ever yours,
lindsey
