A Pryor engagement.
When you randomly have 3 different sets of friends living in Europe at the same time, the universe may as well book your plane tickets for you. Because. You're def going to Europe. The Pryor's whirlwind tour de expat friends started in Basel, ended in Barcelona with popovers in Germany & Paris in between. We love that we've gotten to live in a bucket list destination, outside a super accessible city. We had another fun fam visiting us this exact time last year and there's just no better way to kick of patio weather than with friends from home. Thank you for making the time to see us on your Euro Adventure! We loved every minute with you guys, Linds Will & Linc!
And because in Europe, Spring definitely means castle weather, we ventured to the cute city of Cochem, a city in the Mosel River Valley that boasts 2 castles nearby. We lunched & tasted some Mosel Valley Riesling & let the kiddos run around before Lincoln has a baby brother at home and knew just how to keep Asher entertained. He was enthralled with her singing and wanted to do everything she did!
Wait...did we just witness a wedding??
So. Then we hiked up the hill. Bought our tickets. And then had the most stereotypically German tour guide possible. I couldn't decide if I should feel angered or if it was actually immediately hysterical that we were being scolded for making noise while walking. You guys, I'm not kidding. We have had the best, most welcoming experience since living in Germany. People have been helpful, patient and friendly in almost every situation where a warm welcome would be appreciated. But. I guess Germans have wrong sides of the bed too, because this lady was not having it. We were able to find the humor in her typecast, curt, cold tour-giving-style. But it definitely negatively impacted the "castle" experience I was hoping we'd have.
Nothing that a mimosa couldn't fix.
just a drop of OJ please :)
And another hike up a hill to check out the views of Konigstein & Frankfurt out the window of the castle ruins in our very own town. Not gonna lie ... I'm going to miss seeing this kind of historical view on my drive each day.
I really can't say enough how surreal it has been to have friends visit us here. We're sitting around our table, eating breakfast and I'm just like...umm. is this all really happening? This time around, Linds and her fam were such a reminder of all that we have to look forward to when we move back to Kansas.
ever yours,
lindsey
